the Octagon Room

A room in Bath's Upper Assembly Rooms linking the Ball Room and the Tea/Card Rooms, used for circulating and conversation between sets. It is the site of Anne and Wentworth's charged exchange at the concert, recalled here (lowercased, in Austen's own draft hand) as 'the octagon room.'
