Jane Austen's first cousin (daughter of Mrs Austen's sister Jane Leigh Cooper), orphaned of her mother in the 1783 Southampton fever outbreak that nearly killed Jane and Cassandra too; this piece is dedicated to her. She married Captain Thomas Williams in December 1792, the same year this piece is dated, and died in a carriage accident in 1798.
